Team for Man City.
Let's face it, City are effectively the champions elect and are looking ominously good at the moment. We are flying too, but it will take a truly exceptional performance to get anything out of this one, though we are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with these days, so anything can happen.

It's going to need to be a predominantly defensive effort, so I would expect us to go for three at the back. If we do go for this formation, the team picks itself apart from one of the forwards, so I expect the main debate, apart from the formation itself, to be about whether Bowen, Fornals or Benrahma gets the nod.

When we're not defending, our big challenge is going to be to make the best use as possible of what little possession we get. City will give us precious little time and space on the ball, and under those circumstances, I think the one who has the best chance of making something happen is Benrahma.

I'm thinking the same as Kenzo. It's difficult to put Lingard in the side if we're playing 3/5 at the back with Antonio on top.

I'd go with The Exile's... three at the back but with our most potent front three capable of getting a goal on the break.

I'd start with same tesm that played v Spurs (if we are able to)...don't see what any of the players done to not keep their starting place.

I just don't see the point of five at the back. Sure, you have the extra player back there but then you lose out further up the pitch so you're overrun in midfield and can't get out of your own half. Against City the ball will just keep coming back and back and they are not going to be held goalless unless they have a very uncharacteristic stinker.

Go down fighting rather than surrendering. If we have ANY ambition at all against top sides then we need to mix it with them rather than sit back like cowards and hope for a 0-0 or a lucky 1-0 victory. That's not a formula for sustained success. You can be tight at the back without being ultra defensive.

Tempted to put Benny in as he's the one capable of some magic, but I think we need the extra pace and workrate that other players add, especially for cover down the flanks. Alternative is to start with him and then bring the pace of Bowen on for the last 20-30 if there's any tiredness to take advantage of.

Similarly Johnson and Fredericks to come on and shore it up/help on the break if somehow we find ourselves level or ahead in the last 20 mins.

Scorch - are you saying we pick 11 players then bring subs on appropriately to how the game is going, this is very innovative son.

We drew with City earlier on in the season playing 5 at the back.

That's a very big point.
